Summary0008121: Confusing Text Regarding How "Subscribe", "Unsubscribe" and "Update Preferences" Notices Are Handled
DescriptionAt present, "subscribe", "unsubscribe" and "changed preferences" notices are sent to the e-mail address specified in the field "Person in charge of this system" on the "configure phplist" page. That field allows the input of only one e-mail address.

On the same page ("configure phplist"), there is a field that reads: "Does the admin get copies of subscribe, update and unsubscribe messages." If this field is set to "true" (or "1"), "subscribe", "unsubscribe" and "changed preferences" notices WILL be sent -- but NOT to the administrator(s); rather, they will be sent to the e-mail address specified in the field "Person in charge of this system".

It is possible to have these notices send to an e-mail address (or addresses) IN ADDITION to the address specified in the field "Person in charge of this system." This can be done via the field "List of people to CC in system emails (separate by commas)", on the "configure phplist" page.

All of this is a bit confusing. In order to clarify things, I respectfully suggest that the three changes set forth below be incorporated into the next upgrade of PHPlist:

1. In the file DEFAULTCONFIG.INC, located in the ADMIN folder, the comment "admin addresses are other people who receive copies of subscriptions" should be changed to read: "Additional e-mail addresses to which 'subscribe', 'unsubscribe' and 'changed preferences' notices will be sent."

2. In the same file, the present code "List of people to CC in system emails (separate by commas)" should be changed to read: "Additional e-mail addresses to which 'subscribe', 'unsubscribe' and 'changed preferences' notices will be sent. (separate by commas)"

3. The field on the "configure phplist" page which now reads "Does the admin get copies of subscribe, update and unsubscribe messages" should be changed to read: "Do you want 'subscribe', 'unsubscribe' and 'changed preferences' notices to be sent to the 'Person in charge of this system' as specified on this page."
