Summary0002810: uid numbers produce errors
DescriptionI assume that the following is a bug given that everything else seems to work okay:

My installation sends messages and pretty much does everything I want it to except that the following links:

Your personal location is:
http://www.mydomain.com/lists/?p=preferences&id=2&uid=1b3f63896753b3f71a78db91dd7f058b

To unsubscribe from this list visit:
http://www.mydomain.com/lists/?p=unsubscribe&id=2&uid=1b3f63896753b3f71a78db91dd7f058b

To update your preferences visit:
http://www.mydomain.com/lists/?p=preferences&id=2&uid=1b3f63896753b3f71a78db91dd7f058b

produce 500 server error pages. If I remove the uid numbers everything is fine but these are numbers generated for individual subscribers by PHPlist and MySQL so I'm unsure why these links do not work. It effectively means that my list subscribers cannot change their details.

cheers

Mike

what version(s) are you using?

can you check the error log of your webserver and see what messages are in there?

thanks

I am using the latest stable version of PHPList. I forgot to mention that i checked the uid numbers in the database and they match the numbers in the subscribe, unsubscribe links.

here is the error message:
----------------------------------------------------
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@ijournals.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

here is the error log. I presume this is what you mean. I got this from the error log control panel in my Cpanel:

[Thu Mar 31 23:31:24 2005] [error] [client 130.102.128.60] File does not exist: /home/wwwijou/public_html/500.shtml
[Thu Mar 31 23:31:24 2005] [error] [client 130.102.128.60] malformed header from script. Bad header=404, File Not Found: /home/wwwijou/public_html/lists/index.php

ah, well in that case:

- go to subscribe pages
- create a subscribe page
- mark at least on of your subscribe pages as the default, by clicking on the "default" radio button next to it.
