Also, even once the process is paused or stalled, it always seems to say "inprocess X still to process", never updates to saying its stalled - even when it clearly is.

ah, that's a bit of oversight on the new "remote queue processing" system.

I'll update that.

By the way, if you send serious numbers, (ie over 1k), you really should get commandline processing sorted out. In that case, this won't show up at all.

When we first started using PHPlist, it was on shared hosting without command line access, so we made due, when we moved to a linode VPS, we kept doing things as we always did, and with some testing, I've managed to get PHPlist to send to a list of 20k+ in under 2 hours, at a maximum rate of about 15000 an hour (Some days it works no problem, others it stalls multiple times) using sendgrid as our SMTP Server - all in the browser. I believe that even outdoes your estimated rate limits on PHPlist's and docs.
