Upgrading phpmailer would also fix other phpmailer bugs and add functionality currently missing. See:
There are probably more related reports that would support a phpmailer upgrade.
Yes, phpmailer 5.x includes "pop before smtp" authentification - this would allow (non-super) admins to have their mails sent out through their own domain SMTP servers if they set the bounce user and queuesmtp_user to be the same mailbox - this would possibly then alleviate the need for multiple parallel SMTP sending servers as each domain using the single PHPlist install could have their own admin with his/her own email domain and server credentials embedded.
In this scenario though, processqueue may need tweaked to allow simultaneous queue processes for the different domain SMTPs - I believe this is also available in phpmailer 5.x
that's too involved for testing, so marking for 2.11
Michiel - efficient and reliable mail send is THE core function of phpList, yet every ticket related to it, you either punt or refuse.
Are you happy shipping a defective product? Have you no intent to fix it?
||sign up to hosted and it'll include phpMailer 5. I'm just not updating or responding in mantis very often. there's only 24 hours in a day.|
